José Antonio Modelo is a Spanish photographer and audiovisual creator whose work explores the relationship between territory, memory and time.
His photographic practice moves between documentary observation and a more subjective, poetic approach to the landscape. Through places, traces and human presence, his images examine the subtle transformations of inhabited spaces and the ways in which experience, memory and fiction shape our perception of them.
Working across black and white, colour and moving image, his practice has developed over several decades through personal photographic projects and audiovisual work, with a particular interest in landscape as a space of transition, memory and human experience.
He lives and works in southern Spain.
